Ujjain, being the holiest city in India is known for its great holy importance in the Hindu Mythology. This more than 5000 years old city has witnessed some of the major transition of the Hindu religion and event s. As a result, it is been now recognized as one of the biggest Hindu pilgrimage centers in the country.The city is filled with the devotes coming across different parts of the country to worship the Mahakal (Lord Shiva) and attain the bliss, but the major attraction in the city comes in every 12 year when a divine festival is organized which is known as the “Kumbh Mela”. This festival is of the holy spirits and true tranquil divine energy. The festivities took place for more than a month and this year it is suppose to be held during the months of April and May. This year’s Kumbh mela is been called as “Simhast-2016” and it is expected that this would be the biggest Kumbh Mela ever to be held in the country.
Alongside Ujjain, the kumbh mela was also held in three other places that are Allahabad, Haridwar and Nashik respectively. All these places have great historical significance and importance in the Hindu religion. Ujjain being located in the central India were been the centre of holy activities for many years. The simhast 2016 Ujjain is the tribute to the gods and holy spirits who has given their lives for saving the planet earth and gracing the humanity. The major objective of the Kumbh mela is to spread peace and unity in the world. During each day in the Kumbh Mela, various spiritual gatherings and spiritual festivities were held. The whole city is been engraved in the spiritual powers and everywhere you will see is the true divine spiritual energy. One of the most attractive things about the Kumbh Mela is the Sadhus. During the entire one month of the Kumbh Mela, there were Sadhus coming from every corner of the country to be the part of festivities. These are not the normal Sadhus, rather they are also known as “Naga Sadhus” that means those who have achieved Nirvana and enlightenment and given the earthly desires of the world for the sake of the humanity. All these Naga Sadhus comes in different groups which are known as “Akahdas”. There were many “akhadas” that represent the entire community of the Naga Sadhus.
Kumbh Mela is once in a lifetime experience and everyone who believes in God or the creator of universe should attend this great spiritual gathering. Doesn’t matter which religion you belong or which religion you follow, but being the part of Kumbh Mela means celebrating the humanity and mankind through the spiritual powers.
